Data Deletion Instructions.

1. Overview
You can request deletion of personal data AskAndBook holds about you or your business at any time. This page describes the available channels and what happens when you make a request.

2. Self-service deletion (AskAndBook business owners)
If you are an AskAndBook business owner and want to delete your account and all associated data:
- Sign in to your AskAndBook portal at askandbook.app/portal.
- Cancel your subscription from Settings → Billing → Cancel subscription.
- Email support@askandbook.app from the address on file requesting full account deletion.
We will permanently delete your business data, call recordings, transcripts, conversations, and account record within 30 days of receiving the request. Aggregated, anonymised data that cannot be linked back to you may be retained for analytics.
3. WhatsApp Business Platform data — disconnecting AskAndBook as your Tech Provider
When you enable the WhatsApp Post-Call Assistant add-on, AskAndBook acts as your authorised Meta Tech Provider for the WhatsApp Business Platform. You can revoke that authorisation and have the related data deleted at any time:
From your AskAndBook portal
- Sign in at askandbook.app/portal.
- Go to Add-ons → WhatsApp.
- Click Disable.
Disabling immediately stops AskAndBook from sending or receiving WhatsApp messages on behalf of your business and revokes our access to your WhatsApp Business Account. Stored conversation history and authorisation tokens are deleted from our systems within 30 days.
From Meta Business Manager
- Sign in to business.facebook.com.
- Go to Business Settings → Apps.
- Find AskAndBook in the apps list.
- Click Remove.
Removal from Meta Business Manager is the authoritative source of truth for your authorisation. Once removed, our credentials become invalid and we can no longer access your WhatsApp Business Account.
Any messages previously delivered through Meta's WhatsApp servers remain in Meta's systems and are governed by Meta's WhatsApp Business Policy. AskAndBook cannot delete data held by Meta on your behalf — for that, contact Meta directly.
4. End-callers — requesting deletion of your call or conversation data
If you called or messaged a business that uses AskAndBook and want your data (call recording, transcript, WhatsApp conversation) deleted:
- Contact the business directly — they control their own data and can delete it from their AskAndBook portal.
- Email support@askandbook.app with your phone number and the business name. We will identify and delete the relevant records within 30 days, after notifying the business.
5. Email-based deletion request (any data subject)
If self-service deletion does not cover your situation, send an email to support@askandbook.app with:
- Your full name and email address (or, for end-callers, the phone number you used).
- The business name (if you are not a direct AskAndBook account holder).
- A description of the data you want deleted.
We will acknowledge your request within 5 business days and complete the deletion within 30 days. We may ask for verification of identity before processing the request to prevent fraudulent deletion.
6. What we cannot delete
Some data must be retained for legal or operational reasons even after a deletion request:
- Billing records and invoices — retained for tax and accounting purposes for the period required by South African tax law (currently 5 years).
- Audit logs of significant account actions — retained for security and dispute-resolution purposes.
- Backups containing your data — overwritten on our standard rotation cycle (within 90 days). Restoration of backups for any reason will not re-introduce deleted records.
